Guernsey Berthing Guide

Guernsey’s location at the Southwestern approaches of the English Channel makes its principal harbour of St. Peter Port and ideal stopover location for yachts that are either on delivery, in transit or cruising Northern European waters with guests onboard.

Oceanskies are the only port agents in Guernsey who are located within the harbour who specialise solely in the handling of yachts.

As agents we organise harbour and customs clearances, berthing and/or anchoring allocation, harbour pilots, linesmen and garbage disposal for visiting yachts.

We have our own Oceanskies tender which can be used by us to come out to vessels at anchor.

Fuel can be supplied at a competitive rate. There is no VAT in Guernsey and all MGO fuel is duty and tax free regardless of whether the vessel is a private or commercial yacht.

We can also receive stores or equipment to our address in Guernsey in advance of the vessel’s arrival to go onboard as well as assisting with crew changes as part of a full range of concierge services.

This Guernsey Guide to Berthing provides information on berthing and anchorage arrangements in more detail.

Number 1 Berth

Berth Details

Number 1 Berth can accommodate vessels of 60m and longer in length upto a maximum of 135m.

This berth is also ideal for fuelling, allowing two trucks to be parked alongside to ‘piggy back’ for fast fuelling.

Shore access would need to be via tender to the nearest pontoon, or if tied up on the portside, access can be via a stern passerelle.

Spring Low Water has a minimum depth clearance of approx. 5.8m.

Pilotage will be required on entrance and exit for vessels greater than 40m.

Number 4 Berth

Berth Details

Number 4 Berth can accommodate vessels of 40m-70m in length.

Spring Low Water has a minimum depth clearance of approx. 3.8m.

There is no shore access from this berth therefore access would need to be via tender to the best available non-secure pontoon.

Berthing is alongside a steel framework, fenders would need to be used.

Pilotage will be required on entrance and exit for vessels greater than 40m to enter the harbour and berth in this location.

Numbers 5 & 6 Berths

Number 5 Berth

Number 5 berth accommodates vessels between 30 and 60m.

Spring Water has a minimum depth clearance of approx. 2.3m.

There is no shore access therefore shore access would need to be via tender to the nearest pontoon.

Pilotage is required for vessels over 40m to berth in this location.

The berth is lined with a large central rolling fender.

This is an ideal location for fuelling as fuel trucks have easy access.

Number 6 Berth

Number 6 Berth accommodates vessels between 30-55m in length.

Similar to Number 5, just without the rolling fender, this berth on a Spring water low has a minimum clearance of 2.3m.

X-Berth

Berth Details

X-Berth accommodates vessels up to 60m in length.

Spring Water has a minimum depth clearance of approx. 5m.

There is no shore access from this berth therefore  access would need to be via tender to the best available non-secure pontoon.

Berthing is alongside a steel framework, fenders would need to be used.

Pilotage is required for vessels over 30m to enter the harbour and berth in this location.

Boatworks Fuelling Pontoon

In the summer, the Boatworks Fuelling Pontoon can accommodate vessels up to 50m in length.

Vessels over 30m require pilotage to this pontoon.

It is easy shore access and directly above is a chandlery and the Oceanskies office.

Cruise Tender Pontoon

Cruise Tender Pontoon can accommodate vessels up to 25m in length in good conditions.

It is easy shore access and has a minimum depth of 2m at chart datum.

Havelet Bay Anchorage

If visiting yachts don’t wish to berth inside the harbour, we welcome yachts to sit at anchor outside the beautiful Havelet Bay and we can visit the yacht via our tender to come aboard and complete customs at no extra charge.
