Oceanskies Crew Update!

As the 2019 season is in full swing, we are really pleased to be employing crew onboard more than 180 yachts and working with 12 yacht management companies. This success is partly due to the recent launch of our app, available for download for Apple iOS and Google Android.

The app represents a huge milestone for all of us as it allows crew to manage their own personal data and qualification renewals in a secure environment through their smartphone.  With a separate login to our system captains can manage hours of work and rest, qualifications, leave and contract updates in real time through a tablet, laptop or desktop computer while managers can also review and approve the whole process for their entire fleet.

For management companies the app can be easily be white labelled and our in-house web developer can also synchronise and/or customise the workings of the app to interact with the yacht manager’s existing systems.

About Oceanskies Crew

Oceanskies Crew holds a Statement of Compliance issued by Lloyd’s Register meaning that it is fully compliant with standard A1.4 and guidelines B1.4 of the Maritime Labour Convention 2006 (“MLC”) and concentrates on providing payroll outsourcing services to Red Ensign and Malta flagged yachts.

We are able to register eligible seafarers onboard Malta flagged yachts for social security and operate pay as you earn (“PAYE”) deductions to salary for these seafarers, providing them with S1 certificates and/or EHIC cards.

In addition to Malta, Oceanskies Crew is registered in the Netherlands which allows us to employ crew on new build projects and pay the mandatory payroll related taxes.

We will also shorty be able to offer PAYE for UK flagged yachts, and for other non-EU flags where social security cover is required, we already work with several private insurance firms able to provide complaint cover.

Fees

In terms of pricing, the app is provided free of charge and our standard fees for providing crew payroll services are:

EUR 260.00 per crew member take-on

EUR 80.00 Euros per month per crew member (to include bank charges)

All crew are employed by a subsidiary crew employment company of Oceanskies Crew therefore yacht owners and yacht management companies do not suffer company incorporation costs, on-going corporate administration fees or MLC compliance.

We offer discounted rates for Yacht Management Companies and yachts with 10 or more crew members. Please contact Oceanskies Crew for further information.

Our fees are fixed therefore we do not charge extra for issuing additional employment related documents and assisting crew with Discharge book, Endorsement applications etc…
