Oceanskies launches TonnageSurvey.com

Oceanskies are pleased to announce the launch of a new online portal at TonnageSurvey.com through which yacht owners can quickly and cost effectively organise tonnage surveys for the registration of their vessels under Part I of the British Register of Ships and other title registers.

TonnageSurvey.com is launched as a complimentary service to the yacht registration and documentation services provided by Oceanskies and focuses on providing a cost effective, quick and efficient tonnage survey service.

Oceanskies has in 2016 already carried out over twenty tonnage surveys across Europe either for yachts for which they are providing a full registration service or as a stand-alone service on behalf of owners, yards, brokers, trust companies, family offices and wealth managers.

One of the key elements of the yacht registration process under Part I of the British Register of Ships and other registers of title is the need for every yacht registered to undergo a tonnage survey by a suitably authorised surveyor working under the auspices of a survey or classification society approved by the flag state.

Whenever possible the tonnage surveys are carried out ‘in house’ by TonnageSurvey.com using either Yacht Brokers, Designers & Surveyors Association (YBDSA) or Royal Yachting Association (RYA) approved tonnage measurers or in certain cases surveys are subcontracted to local partner surveyors or classification societies.

Following the completion of the tonnage survey the survey report is sent to the respective survey authority who in turn issue the ‘Certificate of Tonnage and Measurement’ or ‘Tonnage Measurement Certificate’ to the owner’s registry of choice.

By virtue of the number of surveys being carried by Oceanskies it is often possible for several vessels to be surveyed at the same time thus reducing costs.

TonnageSurvey.com can also manufacture and despatch cost effective tonnage plates so that yacht owners can quickly complete the Carving & Marking stages of the yacht registration process.
