Oceanskies - End of Year Review

With the festive period approaching we have allowed ourselves some time to look back and reflect on our first two years in business.

It is hard to believe that time has passed so quickly. It seems only yesterday that we were unveiling our website and heading to our very first boat show as Oceanskies keen to promote the new business to the world.

In setting up Oceanskies our goal was to introduce to Europe the American concept of the yacht and aircraft documentation agency and we were quickly humbled by the receptiveness and support from the yachting and aviation industries to our concept.

We have gone a long way towards achieving our goal. We have achieved over 100 successful yacht and aircraft registrations in all of the main jurisdictions including the UK, Cayman Islands, BVI, Isle of Man, Channel Islands, Malta, Marshall Islands and Madeira.

As well as core registration services we have also used our expertise to assist clients with deletions, current transcripts of registry, changes of name, changes of ownership and representative person services.

A significant and slightly unexpected area of growth was our decision to diversify into offshore yacht crew employment and payroll through Oceanskies Crew Limited. Fully certified by Lloyd’s Register the company and now employing crew onboard over thirty vessels.

To manage this growth we have invested in a state of the art bespoke cloud crew employment software program and our first employee Luc de la Mare who has quickly become a valuable member of the team. Amazingly only a year after having moved into our offices in the heart of St Peter Port harbor we have managed to fill it.

2014 has also been a successful year for the distribution of the company’s own bespoke mini-ISM system through a safety support app available on ipad and tablet via www.support4yachts.com.  Over twenty yachts have so far downloaded the app and Adrian has designed bespoke systems for six yachts. In all cases captains and managers were looking for an easy and simple way to keep on top the yacht’s safety regime.

As our second year draws to a close and we are grateful that we reflect on so many positive developments and we are keen to thank everyone who has supported us. Without clients, and colleagues and friends within the marine and aviation industries putting their faith and trust in us we would not be where we are now.

We also have to thank our families and friends for their support and for putting up with some very long hours.

Finally we look forward to an even more successful 2015 for the whole of the marine and aviation industry.
