Channel Islands Aircraft Registry: Guernsey & Jersey Aircraft Registration - An Update

The purpose of this blog is to provide an update with regard to progress concerning the development of the Channel Islands Aircraft Registry.

We are pleased to report that the development of  the legal framework to enable the launch of the Channel Islands Aircraft Registry based in Guernsey later this year continues.

On the 10th July the British Privy Council approved the first two of three crucial laws to enable the creation of the aircraft registry, namely the Air Navigation (Bailiwick of Guernsey) Law, 2012, and the Aviation (Amendment) (Bailiwick of Guernsey) Law, 2012.

It is intended that both laws will be registered with the Royal Court in Guernsey in September.

The third and final law is the Aviation Registry (Guernsey) Law, 2013, which was approved by the States of Guernsey on 26 June.  This law is expected to be approved by Privy Council in October or November and will then immediately be registered with the Royal Court in Guernsey to make it effective.

Also in November it is anticipated that an audit will be conducted by the UK Civil Aviation Authority to approve the operational aspects of the register.
