Cayman Islands Yacht Registration - International Ownership

The Maritime Administration of the Cayman Islands (MACI) have further strengthened their status as a truly international register by widening the approved list of countries whose citizens and companies are eligible to register a yacht in the Cayman Islands.

Traditionally the British Register of Ships and the crown dependencies and overseas territories forming the red ensign group were only accessible to non 'British' yacht owners if they made a company within a British jurisdiction to gain access to the flag.

In recent times many of the registers who together form the 'red ensign group' have widened their eligibility criteria to include not only British owners but owners in other jurisdictions in order to broaden the appeal of their register to attract new business.

Following the latest update to their legislation, the Cayman Islands register of ships is now accessible to yacht owners of fifty countries.
