Regulations for Yacht Charter in Turkey - A Guide

08 February 2014 at 14:17

It is the purpose of this guide to set out our understanding of the current conditions applicable to the charter of yachts in Turkey.

We understand that the following conditions apply to yacht charters commencing in Turkey:

  • The yacht owner must obtain a Turkish charter licence from the Turkish Ministry of Tourism prior to the commencement of ay charter activity
  • As part of the licence formalities an out of water inspection is usually required to obtain a Turkish Certificate of Seaworthiness
  • No VAT or sales tax equivalent is charged on yacht charters
  • Charter in Turkey can be performed by both EU and non EU registered commercially certified and registered yachts
  • If guests embark in Turkey to charter in Turkish waters, the yacht is obliged to ‘Clear-Out’ of the country immediately and visit one port outside of Turkey (i.e. Rhodes), and then return to Turkey ‘Clearing-In’ to a port different from the one they ‘Cleared-Out’ of. Each and every time a commercial yacht ‘Clears-In’ to Turkey, a fee of 30.00 USD per metre will be charged (calculated as the registered LOA x 30.00 USD).

Oceanskies are working closely with a leading firm of fiscal agents in Turkey who can handle all necessary legal and fiscal formalities.

These services can be performed on a stand-alone basis for Turkey only or as part of the Oceanskies fiscal registration service providing a one stop shop for the fiscal support of yacht charter activities in all of the principal Mediterranean yacht charter jurisdictions.

Our fiscal agency services can be provided on a stand-alone basis to all yacht owners or in conjunction with one of our turn-key commercial yacht charter ownership and registration packages.
