Oceanskies signs full yacht support contract for 35 metre Motor Yacht

Oceanskies is pleased to report that it has signed a long-term contract for the support of a 35 metre motor yacht that it is already in the process of registering in Malta.

Oceanskies will now further assist their client by providing support and compliance services on an ongoing basis through Support4yachts. Support4yachts was as created by Oceanskies in order to provide yacht owners, captains and managers with ongoing shore-based support using the latest technology. The system has been developed  as a web based application specifically designed for use by iPads, iPhones as well as Android portable devices to provide owners, captains and managers with the ability to conduct vessel operating and safety procedures in a secure, efficient and paperless environment. The result is a structured, paperless and auditable way to demonstrate due diligence in supporting the owner’s valuable asset and safeguarding the lives of those on-board.

Adrian Ogier visited the vessel in the South of France to oversee, in conjunction with the Captain, the implementation of the system in conjunction and the development of a bespoke safety management system (mini-ISM).

Following initial system setup Oceanskies is providing the following ongoing support through Support4yachts including:

  • Annual on board audit of mini-ISM safety system
  • Online access to indexed, hyperlinked and updated mini-ISM manual
  • Monthly reminders to yachts and monitoring of checklist/form completion
  • 24/7 shore support for yacht safety and compliance
  • Online secure document storage
  • Maritime Labour Convention (2006) support
  • MARPOL compliance framework
  • SOPEP compliance framework
  • SEEMP management system
  • Garbage management system

Oceanskies will also be responsible for the employment and payroll of the vessel's crew through Oceanskies Crew. Oceanskies Crew is the dedicated offshore yacht crew employment and payroll subsidiary of Oceanskies which was  developed in response to demand from the owners and managers of small to medium size yachts for whom the traditional offshore crew employment model is uneconomical due to the prohibitively high set up costs involved and ongoing costs which are usually charged at a percentage of payroll. The 35 metre yacht in question is an ideal example of a vessel for which the system works perfectly.

During Adrian's visit to the yacht it became apparent that a first mate should be added to the crew complement in order to assist the Captain with deck duties. Oceanskies were able to line up a shortlist of suitable candidates and following an interview process the successful candidate was appointed and installed onboard the vessel within a couple of days.

Please do not hesitate to contact us further information regarding the crew and support services provided by Oceanskies. We are always happy to provide a free no obligation proposal.
