The latest update on the French Social Security Financing Act of 2015 is the formal confirmation of amendment 1192 (see our previous update dated 30 October 2017).
The amendment is applicable from 1 January, 2018 and can be found here on the website of the Assemblee National at the following link:
http://www.assemblee-nationale.fr/15/amendements/0269/AN/1192.asp
A key element of amendment 1192 is the option for crew who are affected by the French Social Security Financing Act of 2015 to be covered by a private welfare scheme as opposed to the French social security regime for seafarers, ENIM.
The team at Oceanskies Crew is working with our lawyers in order to confirm certain technicalities, such as the exact definition of resident in France in a permanent and stable basis (résidant en France de manière stable et régulière) and the fate of crew on yachts registered in the Channel Islands as well as liaising with private insurers in order to provide private cover where necessary.
We in turn will soon be publishing a guide to the current situation in France for both employers and crew here on this website.
In the meantime, for further information, please do not hesitate to contact Tom Becker here at Oceanskies who is also a fluent French speaker.
