Aircraft Acquisition



Oceanskies Aero has a proven track record of guiding their clients through the entire acquisition process for both new and pre-owned aircraft.

Once mandated by the prospective owner we shall embark on a thorough consultation process to determine the most suitable aircraft category for the client based on a combination of factors including:

  • Price
  • Age
  • Cabin size and interior layout
  • Speed
  • Range
  • Payload
  • Runway performance
  • Residual value
  • Number of crew

We will personally meet with the client to understand and develop their requirements.

At an early stage we will develop a budget for not only the acquisition of the aircraft but also its anticipated operating costs.

Our dialogue with the client will lead to a shortlist of preferred aircraft types and in turn will we identify and physically visit suitable candidate airframes.

Once a target aircraft has been identified we will then negotiate the purchase transaction to seek the best purchase and delivery terms on behalf of the client.

After the drafting and submission of a Letter of Intent and the subsequent agreement of a deal in principal we then work with third party partner aviation law firms to draft a final purchase agreement.

Our partner law firms can also if required provide a full escrow service for both the purchase deposit and the balance of the sale price to ensure maximum purchaser security for our client.

The final sale and purchase agreement will cover the terms of the purchase including the price, the deposit amount, terms of any refunds, the timing for each step of the process, the location for the pre-purchase inspection, representations and warranties amongst many other important considerations.

Following the signing of the sale and purchase agreement we shall organise the aircraft pre-purchase survey using our trusted network of aviation surveyors.

We will draft and review title and supporting aircraft registration documentation and usually be present at the aircraft handover to take delivery of the aircraft on behalf of the client and arrange the new registration in the name of the purchaser

Following the completion of the aircraft purchase we then take care of any export or importation processes that may be necessary for the aircraft to fly safely to its new home base.
