UK Ship Register - New International Yacht Owner Eligibility Criteria

In a welcome development, the UK Ship Register has announced a widening of eligibility criteria in order to open up the UK Register of Ships register to a global audience of international owners.

Access to the UK Ship Register has previously been restricted to citizens and companies from 'British' and 'EU' countries.

With effect from the 29th March, 2019 eligibility to access the UK Ship Register has now been expanded to include all Commonwealth countries and the following countries:

• Switzerland

 

 

• Suriname

The expansion of the register increases further the appeal of the UK Ship Register to a global audience of yacht owners.

Yacht owners who are citizens or corporations of the eligible countries who are purchasing new vessels can now access the register directly without needing to create a company in a qualifying jurisdiction to gain access to the register. Yacht owners who currently hold vessels in companies can also now transfer their ownership into their own personal name.

For qualifying yacht owners who are purchasing a new vessel we are pleased to offer our popular fully inclusive five year UK yacht registration package for any under 24 metre private yacht lying within the EU costing only GBP £2,500.00.

The package includes a fast provisional registration valid for three months, the tonnage survey of the vessel in the EU, provision of the final Certificate of British Registry valid for five years, a lifetime radio licence allocating call sign and MMSI number plus a flag, tonnage plate and, if applicable, provide a UK Representative Person facility.

For qualifying yacht owners who already have their yacht registered in the UK we are also able to provide a fixed fee transfer service to oversee the transfer of the vessel from company to personal ownership for only GBP £750.00 including, if applicable, a UK Representative Person facility.

For qualifying yacht owners who are private individuals who are not resident in the UK or who are companies that do not have their principal place of business in the UK we are also able to provide a UK Representative Person facility for the full five years of the validity of the Certificate of British Registry or, if sooner, until the vessel is sold for a one off fee of GBP £150.00.
