Oceanskies at the15th Azimut | Benetti Yachtmaster event

Duncan Swanson of Oceanskies has returned from attending the 15th Azimut | Benetti Yachtmaster event held in Tuscany at the Terme di Saturnia spa resort.

Speaking at series of workshops titled, 'VAT in EU: Choose the right course for your vessel', Duncan was able to bring his experience and knowledge of yacht registration to a panel comprising some of the leading experts in the fields of VAT and yachting from around Europe.

With over 100 Captains in attendance at the event the workshops were very well attended with the open question and answer format working extremely well. Duncan said of the workshops, 'many conferences see just one speaker at a time talking about fiscal issues in front of an audience that can quickly lose interest whilst the more informal panel structure of this event opened the floor to a more constructive, vibrant and interesting analysis of the current issues from a Captain's perspective.'

Topics discussed ranged from flag state selection, yacht import and export, temporary admission, the declaration of cash onboard vessels and the Captain's role and responsibilities in the event of a customs inspection. An overview of the latest fiscal regulation changes from the home country of each panel member was also provided.

As well as attending the workshops the attending Captains, sponsors and guests of Azimut and Benetti were able to enjoy a packed social schedule comprised of fine dining, a toga party and fun yet very competitive team building activities including golf, marina building with lego and yacht construction from cardboard.
