France: VAT on Yacht Charters - EU May Infringements Package Released

In the monthly package of infringement decisions released today by the EU Commission there is again no sign of any decision having been taken on the legality of French proposals for VAT exemption on charter contracts.

Tom Becker of Oceanskies spoke to the EU Commission following the publication of the latest package of infringement decisions who advised that the next announcement will be on the 26th June.

Whilst the ongoing delay in the announcement of the EU Commission’s decision on the legality of French proposals continues uncertainty for the yacht charter market as to future VAT treatment of yacht charters it does, as the charter season is underway, enable the performance of charters under the existing, although declared illegitimate, regime.
