  • Detailed Industrial Advice: We provide in-depth guidance on our members’ rights under the MLC and their contract, analysing the specifics of their situation.
  • Direct Engagement: We formally intervene on our members’ behalf, raising their concerns directly with the Employer, DPA, or owner’s representative to seek resolution for employment matters and breaches.
  • Negotiation and Mediation: We push for a fair outcome for our members by mediating disputes.
  • Support with Formal Complaints: We support and advise our members on escalating formal complaints onboard; to the flag state; or to port state control, whilst also helping them to ensure their documentation is in order and supportive of their issue.
  • Assistance with Termination/Repatriation: Should it come to resignation or termination, we advise our members on all elements including their contractual notice, repatriation rights, and ensure they receive all owed payments.
  • Legal Support – Nautilus membership provides access to our international network of lawyers (*subject to the matter meeting the criteria for Legal support).
  • Certificate protection to members for loss of income if their Certificate of Competency is cancelled, suspended or downgraded following a formal enquiry of a maritime incident / accident. Members should contact the union immediately for advice and support before being interviewed by the Police or other investigation authorities.
