Malta Aircraft Registration

Malta has unveiled a civil aviation policy to provide a road map for the continued development of aviation as a key pillar of its economy.

The Minister of Tourism, Karmenu Vella, in announcing the policy said, “Aviation is one of the main contributors to Malta’s economic growth. In light of the shortcomings that are currently hindering operations, the new civil aviation policy seeks to implement a roadmap over a long term in order to exploit Malta’s potential.”

Contained within the policy document titled ‘A Civil Aviation Policy For Malta 2014-2020’ are sections specifically concerning the continued development of the Maltese aircraft register for general and business aviation.

Duncan Swanson of Oceanskies has welcomed the publication of the policy saying that “we have witnessed rapid growth in the development of the Malta aircraft registry and Malta as one of the ‘go-to’ jurisdictions for European AOC operations. It is encouraging that the Government of Malta have set out their long term vision for the continued development of not only this sector of aviation but aviation in general going forward to 2020”.
