Adrian Ogier

Adrian is a director and principal of Oceanskies.

Coming from a seafaring family, Adrian’s nautical experience and passion was well established at an early age.

After completing full time education Adrian trained as a Marine Pilot and qualified in 1990 as Captain of commercial vessels, navigating the challenging waters of the Channel Islands for over 10 years.

As a former Captain of commercial vessels, Adrian has complete understanding of the International Marine Organisation’s MARPOL and SOLAS conventions, the International Safety Management Code and the International Labour Organisation’s Maritime Labour Convention (MLC 2006).

Having trained as a commercial diver Adrian is experienced in risk assessment, risk analysis, and specialises in safety management.

Adrian’s 20+ years marine operational and technical knowledge base is supplemented by a thorough understanding of yacht compliance, flag and classification matters allowing him to give high level guidance for yacht support and technical compliance. He is also the holder of  a Lloyd’s Maritime Diploma in Port Management.

Adrian’s knowledge and experience lead him to take on, until recently, the voluntary role of Deputy Coxswain of Guernsey’s all weather lifeboat and marine ambulance.

Prior to joining Oceanskies, Adrian headed up the marine team of a Guernsey based corporate service provider and was actively involved with yacht compliance and crew support including crew planning, provision of crew medical insurance, crew processing and evaluation, crew accounting, payroll/allotments and crew travel.

At Oceanskies Adrian takes responsibility for the crew employment and payroll services provided by Oceanskies Crew Limited. Under Adrian’s supervision Oceanskies Crew Limited has grown to become one of the world’s largest providers of yacht crew employment and payroll outsourcing with offices in Guernsey and in Malta.

Drawing on legal requirements, regulatory guidance and best practices from safety management experience Adrian also creates and implements bespoke safety management programmes that will stimulate innovative thought and new approaches to safety management on board any yacht.
